GoodNews World Prayer (“GNW Prayer”, “the app”, “we”) is the prayer companion of The GoodNews Church under Prophet Uebert Angel. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
The short version. We collect the minimum needed to run your account, remember your prayer activity, and send the notifications you ask for. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Information you give us
- Account details — your name and email address when you create an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them (never your password).
- Password — only if you register with email. It is stored hashed (we cannot read it).
- Country — if you choose to set it, to show relevant content.
- Your prayer content — prayer notes, prayer reminders, prayer requests, saved prayers and favourites, and questions you submit. This is yours; it is shown back to you in the app.
2. Information created as you use the app
- Prayer activity — the prayer sessions you record with the timer, your minutes, days and streak, and challenge progress. This powers your “prayer bank” and stats.
- Usage events — basic, non-identifying records of which screens and features are opened, so we can fix problems and improve the app.
- Device information — a device identifier and device type, and a push-notification token, so notifications reach the right device.
- Email delivery logs — whether account emails (verification codes, welcome, reminders) were sent and delivered.
3. How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To save and show your prayer activity, notes, reminders and requests.
- To send the notifications and emails you opt into — daily prayer points, reminders, challenge nudges, replies to your questions, and account emails. You can turn these off in the app settings.
- To review prayer requests before any are shared, and to keep the service safe.
- To diagnose bugs and improve features.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run the app, and only for that purpose:
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
- Twilio SendGrid — to deliver account and notification emails.
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with them.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the app’s database and files.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the ministry.
5. Prayer requests
A prayer request you submit is private by default — only the church prayer team sees it. A request is only ever visible to other members if you explicitly choose to make it public and an administrator approves it. You can mark a request anonymous so your name is not attached.
6. Keeping your information & deleting your account
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Prayer requests expire from any shared view after a set period.
You can delete your account at any time, two ways:
- In the app — Profile → Delete account (also linked under Settings).
- On the web — goodnewsworldprayer.com/delete-account: enter your email, confirm from the link we send you.
Either way, this permanently removes your personal information and your prayer content (notes, reminders, requests, saved prayers, activity and streak). We may keep limited records only where a legal obligation requires it. If you can no longer sign in and can’t use the link, email us and we will delete the account for you.
7. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed. Access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Children
The app is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Your choices and rights
- Edit your name, email and country in the app’s profile settings.
- Turn notifications and notification emails on or off in settings.
- Delete individual notes, reminders and requests at any time.
- Delete your whole account and its data — in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at goodnewsworldprayer.com/delete-account.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
